Lands End Cornwall Elopement Weddings
Harriet & Rich eloped to Lands End Cornwall a popular destination for Elopement weddings in the UK.
Where did you meet?
We met 10 years ago in Delhi, India, where we were both travelling. We were both scammed by taxi drivers, and met at a random hotel we hadn't booked but ended up being taken to during the scam! At the time it was the most annoying day ever, little did we know it was fate bringing us together to fall in love in the most unlikely place!
We have kept our adventurous spirit and now love nothing more than exploring in our van whenever we can with our two sausage dogs. Cornwall is special to us, as my mum lives there and it was the first place we had holidays together. There's something magical about Cornwall, it just has everything to offer and holds such special memories. We wanted to choose a meaningful place with a connection, especially as we were eloping alone, it meant we got to involve family in the day still.
What inspired You to elope to Lands End Cornwall
Cornwall is special to us, as my mum lives there and it was the first place we had holidays together. There's something magical about Cornwall, it just has everything to offer and holds such special memories. We wanted to choose a meaningful place with a connection, especially as we were eloping alone, it meant we got to involve family in the day still. There's nowhere we feel more relaxed than nature, so it was what we dreamt of when we imagined committing to each other. For us a big traditional wedding, or a registry office didn't feel like us, and we wanted to do something outdoors near Lands End and somewhere that felt like magic.
We absolutely had the most amazing cliff elopement wedding location (Lands End) thanks to Jo and Patrick's help choosing it, we will never forget those views.
About Cornwall Elopements and our Cliff Top Ceremony
We decided about 9 months before to choose Cornwall for our elopement weddings day, and then we had booked our dream team Jo, Patrick and Jacki. We kept things simple so planning the other details didn't take long, there was none of the usual weddings build up stress or worry, everything was enjoyable while planning.
Our ceremony was the most magical moment ever. We walked up to a beautiful point at Lands End as sunset drew in on solstice eve, which was our ten year anniversary since meeting. We chose songs that we've listened to on our travels, or during special times we've had together. Our wedding vows were heartfelt and simple, looking back on our journey so far, and sharing promises for our adventures as a couple yet to come. It felt so special to say them just to each other on the cliffs, with the sun setting, knowing ten years ago we were meeting for the first time with no clue what was to come.
About our Suppliers, favourite moment and suppliers?
We love to support small businesses wherever possible and chose from some wonderful elopement weddings suppliers for our special day. My wedding dress was called Be Love, and was from a gorgeous company called Reclamation design, and when I saw it I just knew it would be perfect for a relaxed beach elopement barefoot. We chose rings from Justin Duance Jewellery in Cornwall, and The Wood Hut. Mine has sand in from two special beaches, one was from where Rich proposed on one knee and chose sand to keep forever. I made a dried flower bouquet, which means we can have it on display as a beautiful reminder. Melody did my hair beautifully in a simple boho updo, to fit with my bohemian style dress. Every little moment was magical, but one of our favourite moments was sitting on the cliff edge enjoying a picnic after our ceremony. We also had such fun and wonderful time splashing about at sunset on Sennen beach afterwards, we didn't want to leave! Our advice is to follow your heart and plan your special day around you and no one else. We missed loved ones of course, but our magical cliff top elopement ceremony wouldn't have been exactly as we wanted it if we had lots of guests. It felt so romantic and intimate just us two, so whatever you dream of for your wedding, just go for it.
Jo & Patrick and our beautiful Wedding Photos
Where do we start with how amazing Jo and Patrick were? They were the perfect match for us, and the incredible photos captured every little look and feeling so beautifully, without us even realising they were snapping away. They are the most fun, passionate, relaxed and amazing duo. Right from our first chats we felt sure we had made the perfect choice, and they helped us find the dream spot in Cornwall for our elopement. We felt completely sure they would advise us to help choose the best place possible. We didn't want posed or staged photos as we are such introverts and don't usually photograph well, so they were perfect for us and the photos are so relaxed and capture every laugh, tear and loving look. We were sad to leave them, as we had such fun with them and they had added so many lovely little touches like the picnic and lanterns which made us feel even more special. You should absolutely choose Jo and Patrick for your special day, they are everything and more we hoped for and will forever have a special place in our hearts for them.
