noun: An act or instance of running off secretly, as to be married.
So elopements, colloquially speaking, is often used to refer to a marrige conducted in sudden and secretive fashion, usually involving a hurried flight away from one’s place of residence together with one’s beloved with the intention of getting married according to Wikipedia.
But… Cornwall elopements really vary from couple to couple. A percentage of the couples we work with run away in secret and tell family later, some don’t tell family at all and others tell their family well in advance, and some bring their close family and friends with and have a teeny tiny intimate wedding. The reasons for couples deciding to elope and have intimate weddings are for a huge range of reasons, some for religious reasons, family reasons, personal and financial reasons too. A lot of the couples we photograph tend to have a more laid back approach to the idea of a wedding and also the day becomes more about the both of you.
Run away with the one you love
Do you dream of a magical, intimate wedding, just the two of you, without all the fuss and stress? Imagine… your heart felt vows, surrounded by candle-light in a beautiful oak-panelled hall or beneath the wedding arbour within our walled gardens overlooking the sea… wandering hand in hand across nearby stunning beaches before returning to your luxurious private retreat to sip champagne and watch the sun set over the ocean. If this sounds like your sort of wedding then we totally recommend BoHo Cornwall for your Cornwall Elopement.
BoHo is an elopement venue in Cornwall and it is located a few miles from Land’s End, the most westerly point in mainland Britain. Here you will be spoilt by miles of long white sandy beaches as well as and endless wild and dramatic coastline that is scattered with the remains of old tine mines, shipwrecks, jagged rocks, crumbling cliffs and abundant marine life, a perfect backdrop for your elopement photography.
BoHo itself is an intimate and private space, away from crowds and is perfect for small weddings up to 10 guests. Each and every wedding we have photographed here has been special and personal and totally relaxed and stress free. Having being lucky enough to be a recommended suppler for the venue we feel more like a little family and its a very warm and homely environment which we love, and Tom and Maya are total babes that own and run it. Look how cute they are! Drop them an email to see if they have any availability for your wedding.
With the current state of affairs in the world and without mentioning the dreaded ‘C’ word more and more couples are choosing to elope for this very reason, we have seen a huge increase in elopement bookings over the past few weeks and some of our couples have put their larger weddings on hold and decided to elope over the coming months and will then have a blessing/celebration/party later in the year or next year once life returns to normal.
We are Elopement Photographers in Cornwall, and have specialised in photographing elopements in Cornwall for many years now, having photographed hundreds of intimate ceremonies and elopements over the past 7 years. We are both extremely passionate about being involved in such an intimate day and love getting to know each couple, hanging out with them on the wedding day, eating pasties, exploring the coast and making new friends. It really is the BEST job in the world. Here is a few words from a past couple:
We eloped to Cornwall for our wedding just last month and booked Jo from Enchanted Brides Photography to capture our day. Our whole wedding was built on faith in people like Jo. We had never seen our venue in real life and we’d just happened to come across Enchanted Brides following a google search. After visiting Jo’s instagram page @enchanted_brides and having seen her incredible photos, we knew before we’d even spoken to her that she had to share our day with us. Just like a previous reviewer said, we would’ve genuinely changed the date of our wedding if Jo wasn’t available. Jo is an exceptional photographer. She captures the moments inbetween which create the most beautiful, raw and intimate images. It was really important to us that our photos looked organic rather than formal and posed. Jo delivered this and some! Her eye for detail, lighting and framing was unbelievable. There were times when looking at our photo album where we couldn’t actually believe it was us in the image. They are spectacular. Some of my favourites have to be the more unusual shots or those where we hadn’t even realised she was snapping away.
The photos were probably what we were most anxious about prior to the day being that it was just us two but Jo made us feel so completely at ease. She is so friendly and chatty and never made us feel silly or awkward. Jo is the kind of person you wish was your friend. And you couldn’t get a more dedicated photographer. She was laying in wet sand with the tide coming in, climbing rocks barefoot while clinging on taking photos and constantly running ahead with hands full of equipment and our coats. She is super woman and you can tell that she really cares about all of her couples. She scouted out all of our location shots prior to the wedding without us even having to ask and she drove us and our dog to the most beautiful places for a shoot. I could go on all day. But this lady is worth every penny and more. We can’t thank her enough. Cheers Jo, you rock! Sophie and Nick
We recommend the 4-hour package which is discounted to all couples eloping to BoHo Cornwall, to make the most out of the day and the landscape. We love to take couples on a little adventure after the wedding, visiting 2-3 locations after the ceremony. We love to take couples to rocky hidden coves, magical sea caves, sandy dunes, windswept cliffs with old mines, white sandy beaches, and rugged locations to get lots of pictures and memories.
We also have the option to split the coverage or add on a sunset shoot for a reduced rate or have full day coverage with the ‘ADVENTURE ELOPEMENT’ package which includes 6-8 hours of photography and visiting more of the Cornish coastline. Bad weather is something that we embrace and have had so much fun dodging storms, gales and big waves. Also worth mentioning we never make or ask couples to go in the sea, or get your dress or shoes wet however some couples love to end the session barefoot in the sea and we are more than happy to end up in the water with you if you do.
