Elopement Wedding at Beacon Crag
Helen and Scott were just a dream to work with right from the beginning. We loved how relaxed they were, how laid back and free spirited and adventurous they both were, during the run up to the elopement and on the day. They happily clambered over the hugest slippery boulders to access a private beach that had been completely covered in seaweed from a recent storm, they hitched a ride in our camper van, walked miles over a treachrous coast path and somehow all in Helen’s beautiful dress! Also, Scott was a true gentleman on the day carrying Helen’s dress for miles and untangling her from various thorn bushes along the way. They were so much fun to photograph and the sweetest of couples as I am sure you can see in their images. Elopement photographer Cornwall.
Why we choose to elope? After having two weddings cancelled last year due to covid/ 1st venue going into administration, 2nd cancelled due to new restrictions we decided to still have a holiday on what should of been our honeymoon. By pure chance we drove past Beacon Crag while visiting Porthleven and fell in love with the views and idea of eloping just the two of us. So while having a drink in porthleven pub the ship Inn we checked out the venue on Instagram and was completely blown away with the pictures and options they provided. There and then we contacted Sam to find out more. Sam was amazing, full of knowledge about local suppliers and very flexible with options for the day and within days we had booked a date. After what seemed to be months of stressing to get a wedding date sorted, eloping just seemed to happen with such ease and we knew straight away we had made the right decision for us. As soon as we saw Beacon Crag all we felt was excitement.
What inspired you to choose Cornwall
We’ve always loved Cornwall and have had holidays here religiously over the last few years. The beaches and coastal walks are all beautiful the scenery is magnificent, the locals are always friendly and there’s always a pint of rattler close by.
How much time did you take to plan your elopement wedding
We literally booked it all within a week, Beacon Crag, Enchanted Brides, hair/make up and registrar.
Tell us a little bit about what you chose to wear and why,
Helen – I always imagined a boho dress with long sleeves but when I went dress shopping i completely fell in love with Olegcassini ballgown dress. Obviously originally we were going to have a church wedding, as soon as we booked the elopement wedding I knew I still wanted to wear my original dress. I couldn’t give it up and I’m so glad I didn’t. Personalised leather jacket from Esty – TheBrodieBride. Personalised converse trainers from Esty – SparklemixxBoutique – I still felt like me as I’m always in a leather and trainers.
Scott – I wanted to feel different on my elopement wedding day as I don’t usually wear a 3 piece suit, I decided I wanted to go all out with a bow tie and checked suit.
Any information about your florist or hair and makeup and venue:
Flowers were from Lauralsilkflowers on Esty. Hair and make up, Sjani from Ione hair & makeup – Sjani was brilliant and a pure pro at what she does, I sent her a picture before the day and she made me feel like a true princess, she knew exactly what she was doing and even helped me into my dress before she left to make sure my hair and veil was perfect.
Any tips and advice for other couples eloping
Enjoy every second , embrace everything, trust the professionals and try not be too structured on the day.
We had never been to the venue before the day or met our photographers before the day but that all added to the excitement. We knew we would have an amazing day as our dream was becoming husband and wife. Make sure you give yourself some time in the day to take it all in we sat in the sun watching the waves crash into the rocks before we had our meal.
Why you chose Enchanted Brides Photography – Beacon Crag
Sam recommended two local photographers and we decided to go with Enchanted Brides. As soon as we saw their work we completely fell in love and knew they were the ones we wanted 100%. We’d never saw wedding photos so beautiful and unique. We liked the idea of having natural pictures of the day instead of your usual poses. There was no limits to the choices/ surroundings. We loved the vibe and energy the photos seemed to have. And we were right as soon as we started exchanging emails we knew we had made the right decision.
Your favourite memory from the day – Elopement Wedding
Helen – ‘I literally don’t think I have one – I loved every second- waking up with Scott and having breakfast in bed, getting pampered by Sjani all morning, the beautiful intimate ceremony, celebration drinks, photos on the rocks, more celebration drinks , an amazing three course meal with the new hubby to more giggles and photos in the wild! A day I will never forget !’
Scott – ‘the evening photoshoot topped it for me, Jo and Patrick took us to an amazing beautiful beach /costal path for our sunset pictures. It totally summed me and Helen up wondering over rocks/up hills in our wedding attire laughing and joking. From traveling in style in the back of their campervan to having a tipple with the new Mrs Withers on the top of a cliff- pure magic!’
Anything else at all to help inspire other couples?
We wanted it to be chilled, romantic and intimate just the two of us. After the last year we realised what was really important to us and that was the two of us starting our new family, expressing our love to one another and starting our new chapter in our life. We just couldn’t wait to be married. Do want is right for you two, weddings nowadays end up being a little of what everybody else close to you wants. Put yourselves first and do want you really want to do I promise you will not regret it.
